A friend told us we had to go to Ritter Island. We were not disappointed. It was really beautiful. The falls were more beautiful up close than from across the river. We saw so many different species of wildlife, it was like a small zoo trip...lol. If you get the chance to take a drive it's totally worth it!

I know you’re probably wonder why there’s pictures of deer on this review..this is the family of deer that live above Ritter island.nI can’t find all the wonderful pictures I have of this place. I actually am hesitant to even tell anyone how beautiful it is. ud83dude0fRitter island is still pretty uncrowded.nThere’s an arts festival there every year in the summer that you must attend.

The island part of the park is only open Memorial Day to Labor Day so I didn’t get to explore that. The River Trail is worth the trip. Walk a few hundred yards to the base of a huge waterfall. Great for kids and dogs!

Utterly gorgeous! The path takes you to the perfect place to look up at the falls and enjoy the cool mist coming from them. The ponds are breathtaking with crystal clear waters.

Ritter Island itself is open from 10 am to 3 pm Thursdays through Mondays (Closed Tuesday and Wednesday) starting Memorial Day through Labor Day. There is places to fish, picnic, paddle board, kayak and a trail about 1.5 miles that takes you by the falls and cliffs. Saw a beaver near the bridge to the Island. Lots of birds. The water is clear and 55° year round because of the springs.
