The striking color contrast with the plants and the dark lava and the color is especially awesome during the early morning or earling evening. On one visit we were blessed with a thunderstorm collapsing and a double rainbow.

Nice road in, and the shelters over picnic tables. Showers are closed for covid. Beautiful views! $12 w/o electric.

Huge lava bed in the middle of nowhere New Mexico. Great little park for day use and camping. One trail that is smooth concrete and handrails with pull off spots that have benches. Do watch for snakes and other critters!!nAs for camping great spot for RV's, tents depend on the wind. It can get pretty windy at this park.nAlso best views in the area!! Great spot to watch a sunrise or sunset!!

A great , simple campground with or without hookups. With our seniors pass it only cost $3.50 a night.
