Charlie Staples Bar-B-Q

I keep trying to give this place a chance because I used to love it. We dined in with a group for a friend’s birthday and my party ordered 3 different orders. My husband’s order came out quickly but mine and my son’s never came out. My son only ordered fries. After finding this out the owner’s wife did come speak to the table and fixed the mistake which we appreciated. However, the past two times we’ve ordered take out, our orders were very wrong. The first time, we were given someone else’s order. My husband went back into the restaurant and told them about the mistake. I’m guessing the customer who they gave our order to also came back once they realized they had the wrong food. They gave the correct returned order to my husband instead of making a new one, which the other party ate from and picked over. Disgusting. We wasted our money because we weren’t going to eat that. I gave them ONE MORE CHANCE and again, our orders were incorrect. We ordered chicken breast dinners and a fry for my son. They mixed up the sauces on the order and forgot my son’s fry. When we went in to get the order fixed, we added a loaded potato for my mother. The potato had nothing on it but chives and the whole bottle of bacon bits, no fry and they messed up our order again.nnThis place used to be the best. Great food and service but now, they can’t seem to get either right. Sad to see I’m not the only one who feels this way but they’ve consistently proven the reviews to be true in my experience. Go to Jordan’s on Market St and ask for a 6 piece BBQ. The sauce is right and the food is always fresh.

Ordered delivery and half the food didn't come. Had to drive to the restaurant and get the order right. The food was not very good. Ended up throwing half of it away. The dessert was small portioned and the barbecue brisket had greens in it...

Love the food / most unique flavor hands down! Over 2 hours to get my food. It was good to be back home to remember the great BBQ. FIX the service.

I'm a Youngstown native who grew up eating the original C-Staples so it's sad that I will never patronize them again. Since they came back to the area and the restaurant has become gentrified (yep I went there) the service is horrible and the food is not what it should be. I was in the area and decided to take home dinner for the family. I live over 20 miles from the restaurant and am not in Youngstown on a daily or even monthly basis anymore so I usually stop in when I am in that area. The woman taking my order was so busy bending over backwards for a reporter who stopped in and mentioned she knew Mr. Staples that no one else in the restaurant was getting proper service. She literally kept asking the woman over and over if everything was okay with her food. I've witnessed Mrs. Staples verbally dress down employees in front of customers before for messing up certain people's order so I knew the employee was trying to make sure this woman's food was to her liking. Which is fine. However, everyone should get the same level of service and you don't and I'm saying this after multiple visits over several years to C-Staples where they go overboard to serve certain customers while virtually ignoring others. I placed my order and the employee did show me the food but it is dark in there and my order looked right to the best that I could see. So I drove over 20 miles home and went to serve the food only to discover I was given the wrong order. I ordered chicken and got chicken tenders. I called the restaurant and was told I THOUGHT I ordered chicken when placing my order. No, I always order the same thing when I come in. She was so busy fawning over the lady that was there to see Mr. Staples that she wasn't paying attention and wrote down the order wrong. She then tells me I need to drive 20+ miles (1 way) back to get the right order. I asked for a manager and was then told just bring my receipt in the next time I was in the area and they'd comp the food out. I did that and was told Mrs. Staples said I couldn't get the correct meal because I didn't bring the food back the same day. I despise chicken tenders and from any restaurant and theirs were particularly nasty, old, and dry. had to throw that garbage away and rebuy dinner the day she gave us the wrong food even though I paid for chicken dinners. Even when you get the correct food it is rarely fresh and seasoned properly. No matter what I rarely get a good meal from them. The poor service puts it over the top for me. One of their ill tempered employees actually yelled at my sister once for ringing the bell on the counter because we'd been standing there for nearly five minutes and no one came out to take our order. They're rude, have bad attitudes and think they're doing their long-time customers a favor by taking your money for the bad food and poor service. Never again.

The food is sooo good which explains why it stays busy. Those ladies get those orders out as fast as they can, much appreciated. #supportblackbusiness
