Fantastic flight school, and fantastic aircraft to rent just for a day trip or longer if you would like

Galvin Flying is on Boeing Field and is a great place to get your private pilots license. Be aware that the prices in their website are not up to date. Everything is at least $10 or more per hour than is published on their website.

I wish I wasn't leaving this review because it does seem that Galvin is a very professional flight school with a good fleet of aircraft. I came in to meet the flight instructor for the 1st time and to fill out the paper work needed in order to become a student. Additionally, since I was there I decided it would be good to look around the facility and actually see the aircraft. It never occurred to me that I was being charged for all of this seeing as how the appointment was merely to be introduced and fill out paperwork. All that was accomplished was some administrative issues on my part and a tour of the facilities but apparently this constitutes ground instruction. Also, had it been made clear to me before showing up that this was chargeable time I would have spent the time much differently and happily paid for it.nnI understand that the CFIs time is extremely valuable, however, it has always been my experience when starting at a new flight school to have time to talk with the instructor about goals and fill out paper work to become a student before actually beginning training as this is the cost of customer acquisition.nnThe chief flight instructor called me after the fact to discuss my concerns. It went very poorly. She attempted to argue with me on nearly everything I said and even tried to make it personal between myself and the flight instructor (who is a great guy) saying that I was deliberately trying not to pay him.nnShe made references to the fact that I should have known and that had I made an appointment with another profession such as a lawyer or dentist that it would cost money for their time. I believe this to be a valid point, however, in those cases I would at least have taken care of all the administrative necessities of becoming a customer before meeting with the professional in question in order to actually get the service I'm there to pay for.nnFrom a customer service perspective I thought the chief flight instructor acted extremely unprofessionally and it is very unfortunate that they decided it was worth losing a customer over.nnI would still recommend giving this flight school a look, but just be sure you are getting what you pay for.nnUPDATE:: The chief flight instructor responded to this post in the unprofessional manner in which I would have expected given my experience. She had posted a reply to this once again accusing me of not wanting to pay the CFI for their services. I assume someone there woke up and realized how unprofessional it was and has since deleted the reply from google.
