Nice parking, it was a rainy Sunday but we still saw a couple people in on the way up. The trail was a gentle incline, and made of smooth gravel. 2 out of 5 for difficultly.
Great trail. Awesome views. Beautiful fire tower views. Interesting ruins. This is truly one of the greats in the catskills. And that's the only problem with it. It's too popular. Try to hit it on weekdays if you can. On weekends, get there early because the parking lot fills up fast!
Beautiful place to explore
Easy well marked trail to overlook mountain and the fire tower and hotel ruins on the top! Excellent views from the top of the Catskills, hudson river and surrounding areas! It's steep going up all the way but the worth the trouble! ud83dude05
VERY STRENUOUS HIKE. The first almost 2 miles until you hit the ruins is steep uphill hiking on a gravel road. For a popular hike in the Catskills, you definitely have to be in good shape for this one. The trail is wide enough to take plenty of breaks along the way so it’s doable for everyone going at their own pace.nnThe ruins are beautiful. It looks creepy and picturesque. Definitely good for photo ops. If you keep hiking past the ruins, it’s about a mile to the fire tower. You can climb up the fire tower and get some good views. You can continue along the trail and you’ll hit the scenic overlook. The views are amazing and definitely made the 2 mile climb worth it.nnParking is a little iffy. Get there early on the weekends to find parking. However I went on a Thursday 1pm and was able to find parking on the side of the road. There is a Buddhist Temple across the street from trailhead that looks interesting too.nnThe reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is a lot of foot traffic since this is a popular hike but the views are totally worth it
