A nice quiet party of the gardens. The trails are not as long as the look on the map. Hester Bridge over the Bronx River is very interesting. It has some nice views. You can just make out the falls when you look upstream. It's interesting to pass some huge trees that have fallen across the path and then get to see the part of the trunk in the path that had to be cut away. Very peaceful.

This is part of the NY Botanic Garden in the Bronx. My wife and I went on a Wednesday which is a free entrance day if you are an NYC resident. It is $20 for parking but saving the entrance fee cost covers that. Thai Family Forest is sort of in the middle of the Botanic Garden so it is shorter to get to the rose garden area from the main entrance by cutting through using the forest path. The forest is serene and quiet and a bit cooler on hot days. It also has a stream and small waterfall. The whole place is lovely and well maintained but for us the rose garden was the best and simply beautiful. A great place to spend a day if you enjoy floors, fauna and flowers.

Have been members of the ny botanical society on and off since 1968. Our sons had a garden plot there and took classes. We LOVE the place!! Started as residents of the Bronx and have continued a we moved to long Island

It's a beautiful forest with over 50 acres covered in natural woodland trees, shrubs, plants, flowers, and boulders. The trails are well maintained and there are many species of not only trees, but birds as well inside. Definitely worth visiting and they provide descriptive placards about certain areas inside to give history.

Take an unexpected turn during your visit to this renowned garden to see an old-growth forest and the only freshwater river in New York City.
