Because its where my soul belongs

Easy to moderate walk; most of it along the rocky shoreline. A little less than 3 miles round trip. The lower falls are more like dramatic rapids. Walk another quarter mile up from these lower falls to second falls. Beautiful, soul-satisfying hike. (When you are driving in on Smith Fisheries Rd., you will pass the parking area for Bare Bluff. This hike affords arguably the best view on the Keweenaw. For an easy/moderate hike, go LEFT - ip into the woods - at the sign where the trail begins the loop and then go back down the same way. Breathtakingly gorgeous views from the top!)

One mile hike from the parking area to the lower falls. The path follows the shoreline. Lots of exposed roots so watch your step but it's an easy, level trail. From the lower falls take the path 1/3 of a mile upstream to the upper falls. It's an easy path that follows the river. Both falls are a MUST SEE!

One of our favorite falls and hikes! Fairly level path until the very top along the river but one of the most interesting hikes along the way. The mile back skirts along the rock bluff edge over Superior to the bottom falls immediately dumping into the lake. A small beach access and open area allows you to linger as long as you like before hiking up to the middle and upper falls. Downed trees to climb over, interesting roots to traverse and really fun natural elements including a spring fed little stream flowing directing through the root system of an old cedar! It's a road challenge(nothing worse than many of the access roads) getting to the trail head but worth it. Dont miss this gem!

Beautiful hike along the shore and through mossy, lichen filled forest. Lower falls had lots of little pools to swim in. Hike up the river further to upper falls. Beautiful falls and great view from the top. Not super ideal for bikes right now lots of trees over trail.
