Marathon Gas

I would not give this gas station the justification of even a one star rating, but that is apparently as low as it will go. I am in utter disbelief with the way that my husband and I were treated by an alleged employee at this Marathon Gas station, and I would strongly urge others not to tread that way if you are in desperate need and need a hand. The disrespect that my husband and I encountered yesterday was unfathomable. Our vehicle was finally getting ready to run out of gas after driving around for miles trying to find a gas station that was open. We stopped at numerous exits that claimed to have gas, but all of the gas stations were closed. We got off of three exits looking for an open gas station. It was approximately around midnight. So, can you imagine the sigh of relief that we felt upon driving into Marathon, which had their lights on, to finally get gas. A female employee was standing outside when we arrived and we explained that we were desperate, our vehicle was on E, and we asked if she could turn on one of the gas pumps so that we could get gas. She literally said to my husband and I, and I quote, “my shift ended 15 minutes ago, I wanna go home.” I am sitting in my vehicle begging this lady and telling her that we are desperate and she did not even have the common courtesy to walk back inside and help somebody. Are we not human beings? Excuse me? Your shift ended 15 minutes ago? We repeatedly asked her to help us because we had to get back to Detroit. She laughed under her breath and went onto explain how all of the gas stations around that area would be closed, and that we “better call a wrecker.” From a business standpoint, the worthlessness and defeat that employee made my husband and I feel is beyond unacceptable. Ethically and morally. I understand if she needed to get home, or she needed to go do something. But the response that we received was less than courteous or professional. I hope that nobody has to experience what my husband and I experienced. Which, we did end up running out of gas while looking for another gas station. Thank you for your help, Marathon Gas station.

This is my favorite stop for gas when I visit the UP (where I grew up) now that I live down by Toledo, right when I'm getting down to a quarter of a tank. It's easy to get on and off the expressway, and easy to get into the parking lot even during the peak summer tourist season. The bathrooms are great, and I've never had a complaint about the staff.

The owners and staff are awesome, very reasonable prices, and great products.

Very clean restrooms. Large coffee and fountain drink selection. Convenience and general store is large, clean and inviting.
