We hired Jessica Houghtby of Pennington Law for a very complex family law case. She took over $10,000 of our money before abandoning the case, leaving us stranded with no outcome or recourse. I do not recommend Pennington Law or their associate Jessica Houghtby. Just received comment on this review site from the firm on 12/18/20, insufficient. The case was abandoned, wasting our investment in both time and money, but fortunately we were able to find a competent attorney to resurrect our case, correct the errors, and resolve the matter easily. Financially it was damaging, because the entire initial good faith investment was wasted. Amazing how a law firm can charge us a fortune, faithlessly abandon the case, no matter what the consequence to the client or impact to the family law case, and contest an honest review. Pennington, Houghtby, you have an internal problem in unethical internal personnel relations, in external bad faith representation of our family law case in court, and in taking money from us in bad faith by abandoning a solid case. As far as offline discussions, you had that opportunity years ago and no lawyerly excuse making would be useful now. If, however, you are offering a full refund, feel free to get in touch.

This is a shout out to Jessi Houghtby. She was my attorney in a custody modification case, and I am so pleased with her services. This case was far more complicated than we had anticipated, took about 10 x longer than expected and she stayed on top of it the whole time. Jessi was very transparent, never failing to give me a reality check when I needed one. She is compassionate and her fees are reasonable because she has a strong moral compass which is hard to find in her line of work.
