Wonderful treasure. Beautiful surroundings. Onsite archive of Sandburg's books and artifacts. Nice trails with a great lookout on Glassy Mountain. Still have the goats that are direct lineage to the originals Mrs. Sandburg kept. Maintained and active. A must see.

This park is a true gem. Not a literary guy but was captivated by the landscape view and history of Carl Sandburg and his wife. Beautiful trails and curious goats. Absolutely stunning during early spring bloom.

Great place for family friendly hikes. The historic bldg and other bldgs have been closed due to the pandemic limiting fully seeing the whole site and learning more about its history. We love this place.

A convenient side trip while we were traveling, this beautiful estate is interesting and inspiring. There are hiking paths and a self-guided tour to learn about the different buildings on the farm and their purposes over the years. Carl Sandburg and his family created space for solitude, connection with nature, and creativity. I loved learning more about him, his work, and his beliefs and values that pushed him forward to seek social justice and change. I highly recommend taking a couple of hours to meander this property and enjoy the million acres of sky the Sandburgs enjoyed.

Lovely short walk on a well maintained gravel road from the hiker's parking lot. Enjoyed seeing the goats and imagining what life was like when Carl and his family lived here. Unfortunately I could not get my hubby to do more walking, I would have appreciated taking a longer walk around the property.
