The food is really fantastic. Always make a reservation because they have less than 15 tables so it’s a mini-restaurant that books quick. As long as you book the day before or day of before you go your fine. The rating of three is due to the “portion size” not quality. Quality is a 9. Portions are less than small. For a 19.95 chicken Marsala I expect at lest enough food to claim the “dinner role”. This was not. Love Golden Nugget just not the cost cutting savings on portion. Tilman if you plan to cut portions to save which is a “business smart” decision then cut your price to reflect it.

Went to The Grotto restaurant located inside The Golden Nugget Resort. The food is great, tastes authentic enough, but definitely could’ve used some salt. The bread and oil was perfect! My only complaint would be having to wait for our table even though we’d had reservations and the noise level. I wish the restaurant was closed off from the rest of the resort because it was really hard to carry conversation with my husband sitting next to me. Lots of leaning in to hear each other. Otherwise, this would be the perfect restaurant for anybody looking to satisfy that Italian food craving or just to hang out with friends. Would not recommend this particular location for a romantic or intimate dinner.

Entered the restaurant after standing at the hostess stand for several minutes without any acknowledgement. Proceeded to sit at the bar where we the whole bar was not cleaned. Waited several minutes before staff came over to remove only a few dirty dishes. Took more than 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the bar staff. Asked a wait person about changing one of the televisions to the basketball game and was told, “management does not have time to change the channel”. Bar staff took a drink order which after another 15 minutes we still never received. The restaurant was not too busy. This place had wait staff walking meaninglessness around in circles. Very unorganized and poor customer service. We frequent this hotel and found better service and food at the lounge across the way. WILL NOT RETURN to this restaurant nor recommend.

I love this restaurant!! I would visit locations closer to me, but they don't all have the same menus. So, I have to drive 2-hours to enjoy the chicken parmigiana in Lake Charles. It's worth it though. The tomato basil soup is awesome too!!
