Good hike. The main route we were going to to for the Cole Mountain / Mt. Pleasant loop was frozen over and we couldn't make it up to to the Parking area. We passed this parking spot and made this out start. Went down the trail for the night and hiked back up the next morning.
Good place to park and hike the Appalachian Trail.nFlowers on the northern section in April.
We went off trail around mile 3.3 to find some aircraft wreckage from an A-6 Intruder that went down there. We were successful! For those interested, the coordinates are here: N37° 44.635' W79° 13.220'
No big deal unless it's your destination for a 50 mile hike on the AT. Then it's a slice of heaven!!! ud83dude1c
