This is THE WORST establishment in the county of Amherst. And probably the WORST state agency in the state of Virginia. It's benefits department is VERY UNORGANIZED and often referred to as a zoo! This is most definitely the worst place I have ever worked! I feel so bad for the clients that have to seek help here because it's made difficult for them to get it. The supervising team is stuck in the past of doing things the hard way and don't like to do things how they should be. The director is an uneducated glorified secretary who knows NOTHING about social work. The Benefits supervisor is an evil woman who knows not one thing about professionalism or employee relations. They pad files and do the clients really dirty ..having letters in files that were never even sent. Every county in the state knows that this agency is the last place you want to be as a worker. If you are considering moving to this county for benefits DONT! If you are considering transferring fips RUN LIKE HELL or that's exactly where you'll end up IN HELL!

Trying to get my case sent from Lynchburg to Amherst. I was told to call Lynchburg SS. Might as well be calling the White House.

It's taken over 3 weeks to transfer my information from nelson to amherst & also said my daughters Medicaid was active & its not ! I've been dealing with this place for almost a month trying to get everything right. This is ridiculous! Yall really need to get it together.

These people gave my cousin back to his neglectful and drug addict parents. They were suppose to follow and never did. Know my cousin is worse off, and my elderly grandfather has to take care of him while he puts more time into his sociopath wife, and brings strange people over.
