Brian Vowell, the owner of this dormant flight school which is not even actively in business at the moment because he isn’t even a certified flight instructor himself and can’t seem to get one to stay in his employ, and is advertising itself openly as an FAA Part 141 flight school illegally despite having their certificate revoked years ago, has an EXTREMELY bad reputation in the greater Reno-Tahoe area for making bad business dealings, including a recent transaction out of Silver Springs airport with yours truly where he more or less “stole” my airplane from me, after I agreed to have him provide maintenance services on my airplane (which he falsely advertises as his own in his website after I purchased it from him and repeatedly asked him to take it down), bringing it into his private hangar he leases there as a tenant, and subsequently disassembling the airplane with his non-certified “car mechanics” under no supervision of an FAA certified mechanic per regulatory requirements, removing the cylinders from the shop, and then ceasing any and all communications with me for almost a month now, rendering my airplane completely unairworthy and useless to my business, forcing me to lease another one for the time being. If you are considering doing business with Mr Brian Vowell, Tahoe Air LLC, Carson Aviation Adventures, or any of the nine other shell companies registered under his name after being allegedly thrown out of both Reno International and Carson City airports, I would VERY STRONGLY advise that you at least take a gander through his Yelp reviews. He has an average ONE STAR rating and there’s a big reason for that. I assure you it’s not just one complaint either. Mention his name to just about anyone around here and the reaction you get is shocking. CONSUMER BEWARE!!!
