Fort Flagler state park in Washington state is one of our favorite campgrounds to visit every year. It is so popular that it is nearly impossible to get a campsite (at least for an RV) during the summer prime months. You may get lucky if you check the reservation system often and happen to catch a cancelation. There are two campgrounds, one upper and one lower. The upper campground is more suited for tent camping even thou you may be able to get a small trailer/RV in a few spots and they are not full hookup. The lower campground has hookups and is best suited for RV/trailers. Our favorite campsites are the ones on the waterfront. You can sit and take in all the activities on the water, beach and watch the sunsets from your site. The park is located on an island directly across the bay from Port Townsend WA. The sunsets over the Olympic mountains and bay never get old. State ferries come and go between Port Townsend and Whidbey Island and large ships travel the waters all day long. There are plenty of sites to explore like the historic gun placements, buildings, and trails within the park. Take a day trip over to historic Port Townsend and Fort Warden (Where Officer and a gentleman movie was made). This campground is an easy drive for a day trip from the Seattle area or even better to spend some time with the family. Make your reservations early if you plan on camping here. Happy Trails!
Great place.to camp. Have sites for tents to motorhomes. Lots to see on a clear day.
Would be better if people weren't feeding the deer.
Just finished a weekend camping trip at this state park, and it was incredible. The campsites in the upper loop are no hookup, which we like since it means the whole place is quieter (and we're tent campers). Lots of big trees keep it cool and shady, and the sites are quite large. The beach is awesome, great for exploring and walking, and we also did some kayaking and stand-up paddling. Great place for families and dogs for sure. We'll be back!
So much military history. Fantastic views of Admiralty Inlet.
