I have fond memories of watching Bonanza with my grandma back when I was a little kid.nAlso back in the early 90's, I was living down the hill in Reno. My parents came over to visit me during that time. The Ponderosa was one of the places my parents and I visited - more fond memories. I still have the Pondersoa coffee mug I got when I was there with them - and I still use it too.nI'm sorry to see this place closed down. I hope someday it someone reopens it for something such as a museum i nothing else.

My wife and I were newlyweds in 1996. We got married overlooking Emerald Bay and the Ponderosa Ranch was one of the places we visited on our honeymoon.nWe both grew up watching Ponderosa and when we found out that the Ponderosa Ranch was nearby... we had to visit.nThe hay ride, the old town recreation, the Cartwright's family home tour... so many memories. We were/are planning to visit Tahoe for our 25th anniversary but unfortunately, the Ponderosa Ranch won't be on the list to revisit. :(nI had read that patronage of the Ranch had declined over the years and that the owners were in serious debt. They tried many times to sell the park but no buyers. Finally, a land developer purchased the entire hillside along with the Ranch. They began by demolishing the old town and apparently tried to find someone to buy/take the Ponderosa Ranch. Offering it to various museums... but had no takers. That's the story. I can't confirm that.nWe've not been back since '96, so, I don't know if there's anything left or what was done with the buildings. I'd like to believe that someone stepped up to save the Ranch though.

This was one cool place and the reason we were going to Tahoe. I even got married here. The thought that somebody bought it and closed it down makes me shake my head. They ruined a lot of memories and good times for a lot of people.

My brand new hubby and I visited in 1990 as part of our honeymoon trip. We were married in Carson City that year. When we visited the Ponderosa Ranch, we had a blast. We got to chase a pig and pet and feed the animals as well as tour the place. Growing up watching Bonanza we had to visit. What a great place it WAS. I say WAS because it was bought and shut down. What a hortible SHAME. this place was cool. There was Hoss' mystery mine, Hoss Burgers which were fabulous!! They also had the best HUGE pickles..The place was beautiful. The church there was beautiful too. We wanted to do our wedding there but it was too expensive. I can't tell you over the years how many people visited but it's a real shame that GREED took over and took the place of history and memories. This place will, as I have heard, NEVER be again. I am very sad as we would have loved to go back there before we got too old to travel that far from home. I would only give it one star but we had a great time there

I was there in the '80s. I can't believe it's not there anymore. I am heartbroken. Taking a trip there soon. Wanted to show my husband ud83dude2aud83dude2aud83dude2a
