I particularly found the section on the mining history in the Raton area to be interesting. Also, I wasn't aware of the indigenous history of the area. The Man in charge was helpful and friendly.

This Colfax Museum is a must visit. Mr Sanchez is a Genuine Historian. We need this kind of information in every town. Maybe with City Pride people will love where they come from. This information here is a must see.

My cousin John Stryker lived in Raton. He was Postmaster back in the 1930's and his wife's wedding gown is on display there, along with an album. They have a great docent, Roger Sanchez that is available for a guided tours. Worth a stop, now right on 2nd. Ave.

This is a Must See! Roger will give you an amazing tour. Hear about what Raton is built on. Exhibits change regularly. Go everytime your in town!

Got stuck in Raton for a couple hours when a truck accident blocked the pass. We decided to visit the museum with our family of 7, and we're glad we did! The guided tour by Roger Sanchez was so interesting and informative. He really knows the history of the town and the area. The collection is vast and unique, and Mr. Sanchez will weave historical tales as he lets you interact with and explore items from the past.
