Great Food and Lodging for Mandatory Housing from what I hear. Never stayed, and never plan to. But lawbreakers across the county can't be wrong. They keep coming back. :-)

One of the historic attractions you can see in Mariposa is the County's Old Stone Jail on Bullion Street.nnWhat you will find is a single floor jailhouse constructed in 1858 during the mining era. The jailhouse is made of granite stones quarried from nearby Mormon Bar. You can walk around the jailhouse and view its exterior architecture but it is not open for public visitation so no visits inside unfortunately. A short history is provided in front of the historic building.nnYou can conveniently combine a visit here with the historic Cathedral and the Country Courthouse both of which are also located on Bullion Street. Pick up the free city map provided at the Visitor Centre on the main road (H-140) to locate these and other historic properties around Mariposa conveniently.
