Taughannock Falls

Beautiful day to check out the falls. A tiny bit muddy. Nice people out there today. The parking lot was full but it didn't seem overly crowded. Lots of space!

A tall beautiful waterfall not too far away from me. I love to visit it during the different seasons!

Such a beautiful place to hike! The trails are so easy to navigate and the north rim and south rim loop back together. Be cautious - the black diamond trail does not loop back around to the parking areas! It does how we, take you to foe town Ithaca and it is a perfect bike path if that’s your thing! ud83dudeb2 the trail maps are not great, but the paths are well marked and very easy to follow! I hope to you get a chance to hike these trails and find all the waterfalls hidden throughout! Such a gem!

Stunning waterfall, wonderful trails. If you have the time go early in the morning and do the Gorge Trail 1st to avoid the crowds. Of the 2 rim Trails, the North rim provides better vista's and photo opportunities. That said, I would absolutely endorse doing the full circuit. The stands of conifers along the South Rim Trail perfume the air and provide plenty of shade. The attached lakefront park is a knockout for family picnics and kayaking. The falls is located in the Taughannock Falls State Park. The view from the overlook (top of the hill )was breathtaking where you can simply drive up the hill and park. There are clean restrooms , information center and few tables to sit and enjoy the view.nnAt the lower level , there is about a mile plus walk (mostly flat ) to the falls from parking. We spent an approx 3 hrs hiking to the falls (including stopping to explore the rock bed and playing in the water). We wish we gave ourselves more time.nnWould highly recommend to stop and enjoy when you are in the area!
