I went in the winter time, so there was not a lot of activity. I loved being able to just walk around the park and see the animals without being bothered by other guests or staff. Because it was winter, some of the animals were put away because of the cold. I totally understand this, just want others to be aware! I would love to go back in the summer.nThey also have cabins that you can rent, which sounds like a lot of fun and I intend to look into it!
Wildlife Prairie Park is one of the best attractions around Peoria. I would recommend to anyone in the area and visitors. Well kept walking trails. The highlight is obviously all the different animals, most native or live in Illinois. All rescue or animals not able to make it in the wild, so they do great work for the animals. Also new renovations and projects to expand and update the park. Check out the lodging too. Several different cabins and houses to stay in on property. Also has biking trails.
It's a good place for the family. It have lots of trails, picnic areas, playground and animals for the family to enjoy. They also have a train ride you can enjoy and you can also pet some animals. You can also go fishing here and there are cabins that you can rent.
We stayed in the luxury cabins. On our last day, the bison were about 80ft away from our cabin behind their pasture fence. Really cool view. Highly recommend staying at these cabins. They have a great view. We kind of wish they had in unit washer dryer for the cabin. We walked around the park and saw the animals. They also have a cool slide that our kids really enjoyed. Overall, great fall getaway that is near Apple orchards and other fun fall activities.
Always loved Wildlife Prairie Park! But very impressed on this visit during COVID set-backs. Train is operating, with a mask but myself and the 2 little ones didn't even notice we were wearing them! If you are looking for a fun and educational place to bring the kids during remote learning or just for the family to spend a nice Autumn day in nature Wildlife Prairie Park should be on your list! Great prices, picnic areas, animals, playground equipment, immersion in an amazing place!! Thank you to Wildlife Prairie Park for keeping this place up and going. Love being able to share something from my childhood with my children.
