My kids have fun here, but the park equipment is in need of updating, maintenance and/or replacement. Playground equipment is not maintained well (posts cracked and/or leaning on monkey bars), bark barriers are cracked (future issues with yellow jackets) and benches need to be tightened down, which I contacted the city about the last time I was in town. I believe this playground equipment and fitness trail are over 15 years old, as I recall them being installed around the time I was in high school, possibly earlier. The city should probably look into how frequently equipment is supposed to be replaced, as outdoor equipment can't last forever, especially when it is not maintained.nnFor the sake of kids in town, they should put some money into this park so there is a good place to safely play on this side of town, other than the school.

Very nice park. We came for the fishing pond (heard about it from an acquaintance...we are not locals) but we found it dry. It doesn't look like it's been in operation for quite some time. Besides the dry pond, there is a nicely sized playground and dog park.nnThere were several deer in the dog park area. We didn't get close or disturb them, but the kids in our party loved watching them graze and play from our vehicle.nnThe nearby stream/river was nice. There is a paved path that runs along it. For those that wish to get closer to it, there are many points with easy access.nnThe park and surrounding area seemed very clean and well taken care of. When we venture to Dayton again, we'll definitely make a point to visit this park again.
