Great courts, nice people. Best lighting ever.

Overpriced and crowded, especially in the winter. New management is subpar and raised prices substantially.

VTC is great for kids and adults of all levels. We have really enjoyed the changes since the USTA took over last year. I would highly recommend them for learning and playing tennis. All the are staff great. They are friendly and helpful.

Since becoming a member of the Vancouver Tennis Center, I have been continually frustrated by the lack of court availability. There have been too many weekends over the past year when courts were closed to members because of tournament play, including four consecutive weekends in January and more on the way. There have also been too many weekday nights over the past year when no courts were available because of adult programs, junior programs, league matches, etc.nnAfter discussing this problem with a VTC manager, it became apparent that members are expected to set an alarm for exactly 7:30 am, seven days in advance, if they are to have any chance of reserving a court after school, after work, or on the weekends, or they must be willing to miss school or work in order to play. But even with 7-day advance booking, court availability has frequently been scarce or absent.nnThe same manager also made it clear that the shortage of open courts, caused by tournament scheduling and other events, is simply the way things have always been at VTC during the rainy season. This information would have been more useful to me BEFORE I paid my initiation and membership fees. The rainy season is exactly the time of year when I most need access to an indoor court, and the promise of accessibility was the only reason that I bought a membership.nnOTHER OBSERVATIONS ...nnThe space between and behind the tennis courts at VTC is considerably smaller compared to other indoor facilities in the area.nnAir flow in the building is generally subpar, but it is particularly poor during summer, when you are essentially playing in a brick oven. There are fans at both ends of the building, but they are never set up to create air flow by drawing air in at one end and blowing it out the other. I have frequently seen the fan blades spinning with the louvers completely closed.nnThe walls at either end of the building are painted white from floor to ceiling, and it is very difficult to follow balls from the observation deck. This complaint has been voiced by parents, coaches, and other spectators, but no changes have been made by management.nnFinally, VTC's practice balls are not routinely available to members, depending on who is working at the front desk, who that member is, who that member knows, or what that member looks like. VTC is the only tennis facility at which I have played that denies its members the use of its practice balls.
