there wasn,t that many animals to see
What a fun way to kick off our spring break. This was such a fun experience for 6 kids age 1-8 and 3 adults. We started with feeding the giraffes which was a big hit. We chose to take a guided tour and our guide, Jared, went above and beyond to make sure we all had an excellent experience. He was good at interacting with the kids and pointed out things we may not have noticed on our own. We also enjoyed hearing stories about some of the individual animals. We finished with a picnic lunch and the kids slept all the way home.
Crowded on Labor Day weekend, but the family loved it!
It was only deers mostly and the highlight was feeding the giraffes at the end
The Franklin Drive Thru Safari is a great experience for all ages. We arrived late into morning around 11am but there wasn't a long line. They recommend arriving as early as 9am.nnAdmission is $15 per person over the age of 2 and animal feed is reasonably priced at $5 per bucket. Our family of 4 decided to splurge on the guided tour, an additional $60 plus 5 food buckets to round out the experience.nnThe guided tour is aboard a mule or side-by-side and our guide was very knowledgeable. He was able to name all animals and give information on each which made the safari much better. We were able to go off the beaten path and see the animals and their habitats up close. Animals were everywhere and friendly, most will eat right out of your hand!nnThe tour lasted approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes and we all had a great time. After which we decided to feed the giraffes which are in their own enclosure and near the gift shop. Fresh lettuce was sold to feed them and it cost $5 per bucket or $20 for the whole head which was a much better deal. We opted for 2 heads and the kids loved feeding them.nnAll in all our trip to the safari was worth it and very enjoyable. It can be pricey but definitely worth it. I highly recommend the guided tour as you don't need to worry about damage to your vehicle from the larger animals and can just relax and enjoy your visit. We will definitely be back in the future.
