Great service, restaurant on site.

The facility was very clean and welcoming. Service was excellent for being around 5am. The tarmac technicians worked tirelessly to allow a speedy transfer for my client to depart his plane and get into my car. Great service, thank you.

Love that it has a proper water lane.nnI learned to fly here. Both me and my multi talented wife, Susanne, both took lessons. We like it so much we bought a Cessna 172 with STOL kit and 180 HP STC engine. The tower often mistook us for a 182 coming in. We could still climb out at 1,000 fpm in the hottest part of the year.nnSusanne got her ticket a month before me and on her first try. It took me another month to get ready and then two DE flights a week a part to get my license. I scared the DE on take off from Brenham on return to DWH. Not a recommended maneuver if you want that license.nnMy wife and pilot friends (DE included) made me continue to sit on the lower student pilot deck every evening while we all ate and drank at the end of the day. Susanne proudly sat on the pilot deck for the week, too, and teased me just like the others. Secretly, I was a bit happy for her that she got that opportunity even if I was not so happy about the extra week it took until my second DE flight was done and I had passed. Whew. Then I got to eat on the pilot deck with her again. Sure, I was only 6 feet from her, but it was lonely. Lol, at myself.nnShe began her IFR while I started my MEL in a Piper Seneca II that had been an air ambulance. It was a blast. And the tower was a great help the time the landing gear got stuck half way up. Even my CFI was a bit concerned as he was still teaching me from the right seat. Even with AC we both sweat through or clothes until we were safely back on the ground.nnThank you to all who befriended us during that time of life. Firstly, Susanne (my wife), Andy (CFI & future jet pilot for Delta) and his family who became good friends, Bruce (who found the planes for me to buy) and his family, Delbert (the DE who did both our Checkout Flights (her one and both mine). He was 81 at the time he did that and still flew every day it was decent enough to fly. Thanks to Ted and his tips as well as the rides in his fixed wing twin and his R22 whirley bird (I was so scared I may have left finger impressions in the Lexan windscreen by the left door which wasn’t there as we did practice maneuvers. There are many others whom I send my thanks including the owner of DWH, Jag Gill, for keeping DWH running when too many other airports were closing.nnThank you all with loving kindness,nJohn who love to take off and fly, but still hates landings.nnPS In the end I was glad the DE failed me the first time. When he did, he reminded me that it wasn’t just me that the license was about. It was about any passengers I might have with me. And it was about the people on the ground and in other planes. If a pilot isn’t always 100% on point then an accident can happen. And unlike a car, a plane can’t just pull over and and wait for help. I’ve never flown as PIC with anyone for any reason if I knew I was not up to the kind of flight being planned. Even then stuff happens. So there is no point in adding risk to the experience when it is inherently risky.

Love this airport, friendly staff and clean terminals. My first flying lesson was here back in 1975. When Seaback Aviation was here. Doug Roper was my first instructor.

Great place to learn to fly. ATC is courteous, patient, and accommodating.
