It being a park outside I gave it 5 stars but it’s not being maintained very well. Needs some upkeep but the lookout at the end towards the cave is beautiful.

This is a great place of history and geology dating back to the 18th century and is unlike no other. However I wish TVA would provide more maintenance and grounds keeping to preserve the land and the users follow the Leave No Trace attitude and clean up behind themselves.

The Nickajack cave wildlife refugee is a little surprise hidden spot with a fantastic view of the Nickajack dam lake and the Nickajack cave, and the entirely lake hill scenery. From a parking spot what is very accessible, you have a five minute walk over a wooden walkway to the cave. When you reach the endpoint of the walkway, you have a free overview over the cave and the lake. The cave itself is locked off for people with boats and you cannot walk into the cave. The cave itself is underwater, but before the Nickajack dam was installed, it was an entirely dry cave. While you walk over the wooden walkway, you also will pass a small waterfall with a great rough rock formation. The waterfall only works during wet weather and in the winter. Great rock formations and smalls spots with access to the lake for fishing or swimming.

Easy access to boardwalk and cave area. I have been on the observation deck to watch the bags come out of the cave, but it would be exciting to watch from a kayak.

Awesome experience! The path needs some maintenance. A few boards missing on the railing (vandalism), a muddy spot on the trail that a wheelchair could not get through, and a trash can that needed to be emptied A LONG TIME AGO. Maybe they could charge a $1 to see it and afford to pay someone to better maintain it. Overall, I loved it!
