Was an epic Hike-a-bike! Obviously I couldn't bike all of it, that's where the hike comes in, some of the best views these eyes have seen. The difficulty level depends on the state of your health and fitness, as a healthy 35 year old, I would call it moderate, well worth it, next time I wont bring the bike but it was worth the challenge! Always a blessing to be able to enjoy YHWH's beautiful creationud83dude4c

Walls of Jericho is one of my favorite places to hike in Alabama. My first trip was over 40 years ago. Each season provides something different. The large rock formation near the falls at the very north point is amazing. In many ways it is a very unique formation for this area. The hike out is a challenge and a good training exercise for even bigger hikes. This is one of those hikes where you should make an effort to be prepared. I have shared water with much younger hikers that thought they could hike in and back without water in July?! I recommend you make the side trip to see where Mill Creek (which you pass on the way to the Walls) originates from a hole in the rocks east of the trail.

This is a stunningly beautiful trail that ends with a waterfall tucked behind a golden amphitheater of stone.nnThe trail is a difficult hike. You will go nearly 1,300ft down and back up the ravine. The trail can be nearly 6-7 miles in length if you push all the way to the back of the gorge (out + back). There are also plenty of places to step off the trail and do some exploring. The stoney riverbanks were a ton of fun to pick around and added some extra joy and length to our trip.nnThe trailhead here has two handicap accessible portable toilets for those in need, and the gravel parking lot is right off a paved road. There are no trash receptacles, you'll need to pack out. This trail is easy to get to from the highway.

This is a beautiful place! It took us about 4 hours to hike. The trail is well marked with red blazes on trees about every 10 feet or so. If you are hiking at dusk or at night, be sure to look for them closely on the switchback portion of the trail. There are two log bridges to cross, currently being replaced with sturdier concrete and steel bridges. The trail is very steep at points and is also pretty narrow. Make sure to bring plenty of water!! The horseback riding trail crosses the foot hiker trail twice. Once you cross the second bridge, you can choose to go along the top of the Walls of Jericho or go into the Walls of Jericho. My group opted to go into the Walls. It is definitely worth the hike!! It's very awe inspiring to be inside. Make sure to enjoy it while you're there!! This is a great day hike!!

Best hike in Alabama, hands down. Traveling light, an experienced hiker should be able to make the round trip in 3 hours. The first three miles are also really good for trail running. It can get crowded, so you have to hit it early in the busy season.
