Jackson Maintenance & Electrical does good work, but be careful when they offer to quote a job for you. I would recommend that you hire them on an hourly basis. The owner over quoted the amount of time that it would take to install 6 can lights in our kitchen. We have had can lights recently installed in our other house, so we knew approximately how much time it should take to install them. The owner quoted 2 days to install them, and when I questioned that quote, stating that it should not take that long, he gave me all sorts of reasons why it might be better to take the quoted amount rather than an hourly amount (saying they might have to do this or that and it could take longer than 2 days- which actually the opposite happened). It took the two-man crew only 6 hours to install the can lights, rather than 2 days (16 hours). However, the owner would not adjust our bill at all, so we had to pay for the full two-day quote (approximately 62 percent more than we should have paid for the labor), even though the two-man crew was only at our house for less than one day (6 hours) working on this quoted job. Every contractor we have ever dealt with has adjusted their bill down when the job takes substantially less time, unless it was a large job, such as the installation of a screened porch, where you expect to pay one price for the work (this can light project was a very small project, which probably never should have been quoted, but rather done on an hourly basis). However, Jackson will apparently not adjust a quoted job down, even when it is a small job that takes substantially less time than anticipated. We have more electrical work to be done in our home; and I told the owner that we would not be using Jackson in the future. There are a lot of other good electricians in the Hilton Head/Bluffton area from which to choose.
