Genesis Health Clubs - Midtown Tulsa

This location has a pretty decent selection of equipment and amenities like steam rooms, dry saunas and towel service. I would say their towels are fair at best, they have a few new ones but more times than not your going to grab a towel that is stained and getting thin. They have not been good about keeping full strength disinfectant on the gym floor, most of the time it's been diluted by what looks like 50% or more based on color. Since Genesis acquired this location which used to be one of the Sky Fitness locations it has been very obvious that serious budget cuts have been made. Equipment maintenance is not great and there are currently a number of equipment pads that need to be replaced as well as some hardware that needs to be replaced. Most importantly to me is the cleanliness of the facility has gone downhill substantially from the old Sky days. The main areas of the facility appear at a glance to be pretty clean but if you really look the hard floor surfaces are getting grungy particularly around the disinfectant stations and many times the floors are not cleaned around the base of the equipment. The locker rooms and restrooms are a different story, I have been on construction sites that have had porta potties that have been maintained better. I've seen fecal matter smudged on the upstairs toilet for days before being cleaned, the toilets in the mens locker room are often plugged up and full of nasty. The stainless steel dividers are maybe cleaned once a month and get looking pretty bad, from time to time the showers stink and who knows how often the steam rooms and saunas are cleaned. Even the front doors are more times than not nasty looking because they are not being cleaned. If you show up on a cool morning I would dress warm or hurry up and get some blood pumping because the temps in the facility are generally in the low to mid 60 when cold outside. I believe this is partly Genesis trying to save money on utilities but they have at least one heat and air unit that has been down for months. I would have given this location 4 stars in the Sky days but it appears that Genesis is just going to run it into the ground.

Adequate equipment, though often overcrowded. Only person wearing a mask was the janitor (gym patrons and trainers all maskless). Front desk is out to squeeze every penny out of you

The staff are amazing! They create a welcoming atmosphere and are always willing to help. They build relationships with customers that also embody a desire to connect and befriend new people. Being greeted by name before I even swipe my card and it’s only been two weeks at the gym. You can find good workout equipment at any gym but good people, that’s a gem, that this gym has!

Very clean and we'll maintained. Everyone here works out their muscles and not their mouths so you get a lot done. Would highly recommend!
