This is a really cool place to learn a little about history. It takes you back in time to see a little about how our grandparents lived as kids. It has a great trail to walk by the river. Perfect for the whole family. Loved seeing the elk as well. We saw a whole herd that isn't afraid of people. We saw elk every day. We were there for 3 days. That was the highlight of my mini vacation along with walking the river.

This is an AWESOME place to visit. The Elk were MAGNIFICENT to see. The bathrooms were well kept. The employees and volunteer workers were very nice and informative. There was a walking trail, picnic area and plenty of spacious viewing places to see the Elk. The porch of the Visitor Center was exceptionally nice. There was a fair amount of parking spaces at the Visitor Center to park off of the road and out of the way of traffic and any stray Elk crossing the roadway. If people would follow the rules of the park, follow the directing of the park staff and volunteers, follow social distancing and wear protective masks, then they would be able to enjoy the whole experience. They can take pictures, have a picnic, walk a trail, visit in the Visitor Center and most of all, view the Elk.

An amazing place to go with dogs. As one of the two hikes in the park you can bring your dogs. There are a lot of people on the trail close to the visitor center but then dies down farther along. The hike is pretty short only 3 miles round trip most of the trail is gravel or packed dirt and mostly level. The few inclines are very mild.

This is a must stop on the way through the smokys. The visitors center is one of the nicest in the park. The old farm buildings behind the center are amazingly well preserved and the walk along the creek shaded by the trees is beautiful. If you catch the right time, you may see a herd of elk. Saw a herd of at least 50 beautiful Elk.
