Michael did an amazing job fixing up my existing locks (ones I had put in myself and done a poor job on) as well as adding in a couple rows of new locks. I’m beyond impressed with my locks!! I thought for sure the ones I’d put in myself would be messed up forever but it’s been a few months since Dr. Lockstar gave them some TLC and now they’re locking up beautifully. If you need an expert lock doctor, Michael is your guy! Pricey, but worth every penny.

I got my human hair extensions done at another salon by going off of a referral from another person with not much research on my end, believe me, that will NEVER happen again! Within 1.5 wks, 3rd shampoo later I noticed there were several that were already unraveling and hanging on by a thread...this was NOT my first rodeo so I knew this was not normal. As you could imagine, I was devastated after the investment of the extensions and also the 12 hours of the incorrect install for the labor that already went into these. I immediately contacted Michael with Dr. Lockstar to set up a consult and he immediately booked me the next day (on his week off for his b-day) to do a major repair by removing all 50 loc extensions and doing a major overhaul repair on my head beginning with the roots that were also completely jacked up and then he did the install the correct way for all 50 of my loc extensions. I recommend Dr. Lockstar to anyone looking for perm loc extensions, maintenance, or repairs. He is more than knowledgeable and gives you all the info you need to take care of your locs & investment to give them the best love and attention possible. I am not just lucky but I'm so grateful to have met such an inspirational and artistic person. After the traumatic experience in the beginning I am now ready to begin my journey with my locs and to have someone I respect like Michael helping me along the way. He will be the only one I will ever trust to be touching these babies. You will not regret your experience with Michael. Michael is the best. My roots were very grown out and he made them perfect in a little over an hour. He’s gentle, too. It didn’t hurt at all. I drove 4.5 hours for my appointment and it was worth every minute.

From start to finish the process is professional, and seamless. Every question I had Michael was quit to respond and answer with care. He takes time to find out what you are going for to produce healthy locks, and make your vision a reality. He works efficiently to make the most of your time. I got my dreadlocks done by Michael back in September 2020. I went to him because I could literally find no one else in the area to do Caucasian dreads, and his reviews were outstanding. When I showed up on his property, his studio was set up in a tent behind a garage/shed. His dog happily greeted me, and it was a nice day to be outside. Michael said he was willing to extend my natural hair with my old dreads I had cut off 3 years prior. I sat down in his chair and he got started. He had me comb out the ends of my old dreads to prepare them to attach. He said it would “save me money” by doing some of the work myself. It gave me something to do, so I didn’t mind too much. His conversation skills weren’t great. He talked about his own political beliefs and the latest conspiracy theories he was feeding into. They weren’t what I believe, but to each their own.... until he just kept at it, and kept at it. And tried to tell me my different beliefs were wrong. Political, religious, etc. He moved from one controversial subject to another not only all of the first day, but much of the second day as well. During this he also revealed several pieces of very personal information about himself I don’t care to share here. But one piece of info was his past criminal activities that I find incredibly NOT okay (and I’m not referring to drug charges). It made me uncomfortable and not want to return. My recommendation is to look up his address in a public safety database if you want to know who will be working on your hair. Anyway, after my very uncomfortable 2 days, I was very satisfied with the quality of my dreadlocks.nnSeveral weeks later when I returned for maintenance (and he mocked me for wearing a mask), many of my extensions had loose hair coming out around them. Not just a few hairs, but like 1/2 the dreadlock worth of hair. He said that was not part of his normal maintenance service and made me schedule a separate appointment for that repair. He also said that shouldn’t happen if I don’t use tight hair ties. So I made a change and only used loose hair ties that were non-elastic thereafter. And a lot less often. But within a couple weeks it started happening again.nnRather than go back to him, pay OUTRAGEOUS prices compared to other locticians, be mocked for wearing a mask, be preached at for all the different things I believe that he believes is wrong, and deal with a criminal, I have chosen not to return.nnThis is my account of my experiences. Nothing more, nothing less.nnNote: after posting this review on Facebook, Michael became extremely hateful, calling me names and insulting me. Beware this man.
