Ny dominicana styles hair salon

I am writing this review after my 3rd visit. She takes great care of your hair! I have thick, 4C hair that was really damaged when I first made my appointment. She nicely told me don’t worry about it, I’ll make your hair healthy and grow. A little over a month later I can truly see the difference. She put a beautiful color in my hair that fits me. Absolutely love her and her salon.

I love that this salon opens at 8am! Carmen took my hair from burgundy to a beautiful blonde - she toned it and everything! She styled it exactly how I usually do but even better! She was quick and attentive. She immediately let me know my haircut from great clips was uneven when she noticed and she fixed it - she is a pro at hair! She's very nice and is always singing which gives a great homey vibe. Love her! I trust her with my hair! She even gave me a plastic cap so I wouldn't get my hair wet in the rain. Great experience!

This lady is very sweet and I feel like she tried her best, but I think she may not be experienced enough with thicker coarse hair. My hair is very curly and long I typically go to Dominican salons for blow outs, and honestly I made a reservation at this location by accident and didn't cancel because that would be rude and not professional.  With that being said she was SUPER ROUGH washing my hair she scratched my scalp so hard and my neck was flinging so hard I thought she was going to break my neck...no exaggeration. She uses the same brushes on everyone. She does not clean them. She had a drawer full of brushes that had hair from previous customers. I set an appointment first thing when they opened and the shop was dirty with hair all over the floor from the previous night. When she combed my hair she used a thin comb that would need to be used for someone with straight hair. I told her she needed to use a wide tooth comb and she said it was fine. This by far was the absolute worst experience I've had getting my hair done. It took me awhile to make this review because like I said the lady was very sweet i liked her and the vibe of her salon however. She honestly did not know how to do my hair. When sitting under the dryer she forgot to give me ear covers. My ears were burning so bad the dryer was up too high. The whole process of her doing my hair was terrible honestly I wanted to leave soon as she washed my hair but it was 20 degrees outside so I was stuck. She clipped my ends and forgot to cut some parts and I had strands of hair longer than the rest after she cut it. I only made this review to help anyone out who may be considering going here if they have hair like mine. I have 3c 3a type hair btw. This review may seem mean but its the truth in my experience and it's a business so I'm leaving my review here so maybe it can help them do better with my hair type. Also warn others with my type of hair. I gave two stars because the lady had a great attitude and was nice but the work is worth one star.
