Cool boardwalk over the swamp.

CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED do not listen to their automatic voicemail message that says all trails are open. And do not pay attention to their website that says trails are open. As of this review (01/10/2021) THE BOARDWALK TRAIL IS CLOSED. Storm damage or something who knows it’s BS.n...nThey do have a red tailed hawk and an owl behind the nature center (closed too btw) which is cool.

The swamp was pretty awesome, despite half of the boardwalk being gone, which I understand was due to a storm. I would have rated higher had I only visited the swamp. I do regret visiting the “meadow” (which is not a meadow, very overgrown and mismanaged.) The plants were in terrible condition, but signage was... weird. Some not beside what they were supposed to be labeling, some couldn’t even find the tree it was labeled, some were 20 feet away with other trees between the tree and the label. I really hope that someone that cares about the area really steps in to upgrade the meadow into an ACTUAL arboretum.

Pros: fascinating Hidden nature. Interesting wildlife & fauna. Descriptive info about area & trees. Good picnic areas with tables. Parking. Marked. & well traveled trails. Boardwalk over swamp. Best for school age children through adults. Cons: No restrooms or drinking fountain. Small parking lot. Parts of trail too close to the main road . road noise frequent. Difficult to exit ( in car) due to blind curve. Be careful! Suggestions: Sunhat, sturdy shoes, bug spray & water bottle. And be EXTRA quiet in the swamp- you might see a ud83dudc38 frog if you're lucky. You'll certainly hear one or two!

The swamp was so beautiful in early November. There were still enough leaves left on the trees to add a dash of color. Alot of the underbrush had defoliated so there was a clear view of the cypress knees in the water.nDefinitely recommended .
