My husband, two daughters and I had so much fun rock climbing with Olivia in July. We booked one day of cragging for all of us in Icicle Canyon. It was great to discover new areas for future climbs. The second day, the girls and I did a multi pitch route with Olivia. It was so empowering for my daughters to learn new skills from such a kind, patient, strong and knowledgeable role model. Fabulous memories were made and all the Covid-19 precautions made us feel comfortable and safe.

Great experience. On short notice, Olivia Race arranged to lead a day of one-on-one rock climbing practice and instruction at Castle Rock outside Leavenworth, Washington. She is super-competent, super-safe, and very tactful and personable. She has one of the highest (if not THE highest) international certifications as a mountain guide. In fact, she is one of the instructors in the training videos at the website of the American Mountain Guides Association. Olivia knows the local rock climbing areas very well, and I cannot imagine anybody who'd be a better guide for rock climbing in this area.

The crevasse rescue course they set up for me was terrific. Loads of valuable information and techniques, and Max was an excellent teacher.

Northwest Mountain School went above and beyond to line up a great day of climbing for our two families while we were on vacation in Leavenworth, WA. Their staff / guides were top notch professionals that provided a safe yet challenging experience for the kids and adults alike. Highly recommend utilizing their services to help with your next adventure!

On August 1, 2019, I spent a full day in Leavenworth with Northwest Mountain School guide Travis Wiel, who had recently joined their staff. I needed to get some practice for an upcoming 6 day climb in Boston Basin, and we did a couple of 5.6 routes. We first did Groundhog Day on the February Buttress. This fairly well mimicked the climbing along the West Ridge of Forbidden Peak. We next went to Castle Rock and did the Midway route. I got gripped on a couple of sections, especially the step-across from the top of Jello Tower. Travis was at all times very calm and encouraging. Whenever I was struggling, he’d either talk me through it or even demonstrate how to move. He’s a very good teacher, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him for a day of climbing instruction. Olivia set me up for this session, and I greatly appreciate it. My experience with NMS was quite positive, and reading up on them, they are widely regarded among the best local alpine services.
