Worth the work - Icicle Ridge was my first hike in the wonderful land of Leavenworth. The views are well worth the hike, but may be increasingly difficult if you're not used to the elevation. I highly recommend taking a weekend to enjoy the entire trail, especially sooner than later given that snow is on it's way.
The fall colors are starting to appear beautifully. Great little hike up to have amazing views of the town below. Not too crowded. Dogs are allowed on trail. For an extended day hike after the peak views go out the opposite direction to connect to the fourth of July trail.
a perfect trail for a fall morning! only saw a few other people. great lookout at the top. plenty of parking and close enough to leavenworth that it was easy to go grab lunch after without feeling too close. drove in from seattle to make a day of it. definitely recommend for an easier hiking option!
I wouldn’t say this is necessarily an easy hikenIf you’re a beginner. I made the mistake of not bringing a backpack with snacks and water (we took one bottle, not enough), I was 1 hour and 20 min up and felt like I burned more calories than what was in my belly. I got so lightheaded I had to send my husband up to see the view and I waited on a rock for another hour for him LOL the views are so Gorgeous all the way up!! Total thigh workout but totally an awesome feeling. Coming down was easy of course. Just wish I had brought snacks to keep my blood sugar up so I could have got to the top. Would recommend 10/10 though! So fun.
Most excellent hiking for several fitness levels! Warning - there is no end summit - one just decides when to turn around. It's popular and people are pleasant.
