These people don't care about the well-being of the students at Zachary High and don't care for the teachers either. The School Board would rather go on nice vacations multiple times a year than paying teachers more or allow their teachers to teach in a way that actually helps students. The rules at the schools strip individualism from the students and make the students grow up to be like robots. The School Board gets mad when there are fights and so much rebellion with the students but, when you make students sit in a classroom for seven hours everyday in an uncomfortable uniform and only have one break all day, there will be anger building up. Most teachers and administration at Zachary actually care for the students and want the best for them but, none of this matters when the School Board is constantly putting more rules into place and more teaching regulations that don't make any sense. For example, in Zachary currently if you enroll a kid in kindergarten, the kid will not get the same type of kindergarten education that most think they would. Most people would think that in kindergarten, the kids would draw, read short books with teachers, learn the alphabet, and have play time in which the kids would do brain developing activities like dress up which lets kids develop teamwork skills and social interaction. Instead, kids in kindergarten are forced to sit in silent classrooms and practice reading and writing with little one on one with teachers. There is very little play time and instead more silent time for the kids to write stories. Writing these stories would be OK if the kids had creative freedom but, these 5 and 6 year old are given prompts and have to only write within the boundaries set by people who have never taught in a classroom. If anyone from the School Board takes the time out of their day to read this, please make some changes. There are things within every grade level where things can be improved. The current education system is made to prepare students for the real world but, all that it does is make students think they have limited opportunities and can't go out and find their own niche.
I TOTALLY Disagree with all of these Negative Nellies... Zachary has been the #1 school in the state for over 10 years... I have family children who are going through the system and doing GREAT!!! Scholarships to LSU, High ACT, and SAT scores, encouraging their individual talents. I have no idea what the problem is with these other reviewers... My great nephew came to live with me when he was 10 because of unfortunate circumstances and the school system was a God send to keeping him interested and on track. It could have Very Easily gone bad with a young child in tough circumstances. If you have problems with the school system, are you up at the school telling them your grievances? Are you sitting in the school board meeting, making your issues known? Get out there and tell them! There are great people in Zachary, but if they don't know, they can't do anything about it... Do Something...
The schools are trash. The people are rude. The teachers do not teach you well. The teachers do not even notice bullying, and if they do they do not take charge. Don't waste your time coming here.
This school is complete trash. The teachers are absolutely disrespectful and horrible towards the students. I am a student myself. It doesn't even deserve one star.
So bad herenI used to live here and see kids being hit by teachers
