This is an excellent interpretive hike. The Lake Missoula Ice Age flood is fascinating.

A nice little stop on the Cascade Loop. There's a porta potty, which was spotless when I was there on a weekend afternoon, and a big pavilion with many picnic tables. The trail was easy, and I learned a lot about wildfires. Really cool to see some original lookouts as well.

Nice ~0.75 mile walk while also learning about healthy forest and how our wildfires are dealt with. It looks like they are working on refurbishing two of the lookouts, but still cool to see them up close in person without having to climb a mountain first.

Columbia Breaks is an educational mecca for fire information. Besides being able to hike to an actual fire lookout, there are informational signs and placards the explain the effects of fire on our ecosystem. Check out their Facebook page to learn more :)

Columbia Breaks is an excellent family friendly and educational half mile hike that is easily accessible off of 97a. It is run by a thoughtful and caring organization with a desire to preserve the old fire lookouts and promote fire awareness and the fantastic natural beauty of the Entiat Valley. There is not a better stop to stretch your legs on your way through Entiat.
