Preserved nature area close to the city. Shared with an area set aside for archery. Popular place for horse riding as it's near a boarding area but there are lots of trails are plenty of places to get out of the way. Trail through the park connects to others going all around the town.
Nice park for walking but there's lots of horse traffic kicking up dust. Trails can be quite sandy in spots. Lots of birds and butterflies to observe.
I was sitting in my car looking for birds when a couple of house finches came to a lavender bush that was less than 6 feet from my car. I was really really quiet and eventually there were eight of the finches on the lavender bush. I know they are common, but it's pretty cool to see that many of them on a bush so close to me.
We really looked forward to walking today. Only to read the signs when we got here. You have to be a club member to walk these trails.
Very rustic river path; wide enough for mountain bikes and bird watchers!
