I highly Recommend visiting this Fort Prior to visiting the Castillo. Very cool Early Era Replica Fort Menendez based on the first 9 Forts that were built but had been burnt down leading to Spainiards Decision to Construct and Fortify St. Augustine with The Castillo San De Marcos. *Excellent for Children and Families with Hands on Experiences and History of the Various Inhabitants and details the beginning of an open mindedness for Freedom of Slavery for the 1st African Americans.nnVery informative. Loved the interactive experience. Fun way to learn about life as the early settlers experienced it. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Highly recommended. Great gift shop. Will definitely add this to our next trip itinerary.nnThis was an awesome experience for my family. We were a little rushed as we got there about an hour prior to closing, but had a great hands-on experience learning first-hand the history of St. Augustine. There was a seek and find to fill out, we earned coins, which got to be redeemed in the gift shop, get facepaint and a necklace in the native american area, and got to be sailers on a ship among many other things! If you are debating between this and Colonial Quarter, I would highly recommend this after experiencing both!

So much fun!!nGot married at the barn in the back 2 months ago, and then took my 9yr old brother to go through the tour. This place is awesome and all the employees make it a fun atmosphere.
Fantastic experience with my kids 4th grade class. The people were friendly and informative. The guides did a fantastic job keeping the kids attention and I even learned a thing or two about the history of the area. The gift shop was moderately priced as well.
