UPDATE. AFTER A ROCKEY START AMANDA SLATE WENT OUT OF HER WAY TO HELP MEnSHE BECAME A REAL FRIEND AND WAS THERE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY ASSURING THE WORK I NEEDED TO MAKE MY OLD HOUSE SAFE AND WARM WAS SAFEnI AM NOW HELPING HABITAT FOR HUMANITY RAISE FUNDS AND COMMUNITY AWARENESS OF THE VITAL WORK THEY DO.nI THINK I WILL LEAVE MY EARLIER POST PLACED IN OCTOBER 2020 AS A REMINDER THAT THE HABITAT LEADERSHIP SHOULD MAKE EXPECTATIONS FOR GETTING APPROVED WORK DONE REALISTICnHOWEVER THE WORK DONE IN MY HOME WAS FIRST CLASS AND BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONSnIF I HAD BEEN TOLD THE TIME FRAME NEEDED TO GET WORK COMPLETED I WOULD NEVER HAVE POSTED BELOW.nCHARLES FISCHBEINnTHANK YIU AMANDA SLATEnPOSTED AS UPDATE DECEMBER 27, 2020nnDue to near total inability to walk and stand and living on only social security I applied for help replacing outside stairs that are falling down and an unsafe woodstove flue system.nA friend of mine who cant work because he cares for his elderly blind mother with cancer was in desperate need to help with an air conditioning system that failed in MaynHis mother could not handle heat at her advanced agenBy the second week of June both my friend Patrick and I were informed by the Executive Director that the Board approved our applications for help.nToday is October 24, after many promises and speaking with rude volunteers at their office NO WORK HAS BEEN DONEnI face using a marginally function woodstove vent system and outdoor stairs falling downnTheir only paid employee who is wonderful has been sick but the chapter President a local real estate sales person Amanda Slate has turned her back in both of usnMy friend even sent Habitat a check for $250 dollars to defer costs taken from his mothers minimal social security check. The check was cashed of course. No work donenI have called all our local newspapers and spoke at length with the General Counsel of the national office of Habitat in Georgia.nHe promised to look into itnWhen I spoke to Ms Slate several times she said she is very busy with one if their projects and we had to waitnThe Executive Director is wonderful and doing her best but I put gross failure at the foot of the PresidentnShe said she was busy with a big project well people who take in responsibility for a multifaceted organization should know how to multitask or at least walk and chew gum at the same time.nAbject failure from a failing local chapter of a wonderful organization.nCharles FischbeinnFront Royal
