Fields spring State park is simply amazing! Drive down late July or early August to see golden covered wheat hills and valleys in the surrounding area, where you will be taken away with stunning views. The state park provides a highly diverse natural experience webbed with tree cover, wildlife and extreme vegetation in a land mostly surrounded by arid desert and grasslands. Take up the Puffer Butte Hike (Will recommend a group activity or try to tag along with other hikers) for a 360 panoramic view of the Butte, and be lucky to catch a glimpse of a black bear in their natural habitat gorging on those sweet berries. If you are camping there take a sneak-peak at the night sky, you will be mesmerized with the stars in the sky, due to very less light pollution in the area it gives a great night sky view. Camp sites are smaller but allow pull up for cars to the site, big enough for 1 tent or two if you can line them close by. Camp sites are also close enough to feel sense of security in the wild with your fellow campers but far enough and angled well to get some privacy! Camp sites have all kind of amenities. Oh! and the Park RANGERS are awesome, kind souls who would make you feel welcome and make your stay fun!
Beautiful place. Nice picnic area and great hiking trails.
This was a really nice camping experience for us. We've been to other state parks and this one offered by far the most quiet and calm experience we've had. At night time, you can see many stars in the clear sky and the only sound I heard before falling asleep was the blood flowing through my veins.nIt doesn't get as hot as Clarkston, because of the higher elevation.nThe rangers were very friendly and accommodating, especially the young lady who spent time to chat and talk to us.nI would visit more often if it were not so far away from the Puget Sound area.
The trail has a stunning view! The bathroom was clean. The ranger who’s staying on-site was extremely helpful and friendly during my stay and helped make my time there much more enjoyable when I ran into an issue of my own doing.
Great little state park with nice camping spots. Bathroom is kept nice and clean. Miles of hiking trails and a beautiful view from Puffer Butte.
