It's where I grew up! So to me I'll always Love it! But for the new comer's. In the summer(after windy season) it's a nice place to go. The people are nice,easygoing,an fun,just stick to the lakeside and Cibola National Forest(beautiful drive,nice place to repell,zip line,an hike) whether your single person or a family,you will truly have a fun, quite, relaxing time! Enjoy!!!

Lake is very, very low...more like a pond. No trash containers. I've been here a week and the bathrooms have not been cleaned and the floor is covered in mouse droppings. There is a notice on the board at the entrance warning of Hanta Virus. REALLY??

The views are breath taking and the drive from the town of Thoreau, NM along NM HWY 612 was equally beautiful. The park doesn't have running water and it is a 12 mile drive to get to the park from Thoreau, so take water and food. There are a few restrooms in the park and there is lots of primitive camping areas and all the walking your heart desires. If you get a chance continue driving south on 612 to were the blacktop and Village ends and you will end up in the Cibola National Forest. There you will be blown way.
