Rose Island Lighthouse

One of my favorite places to visit on a summer day. Take the ferry from Jamestown or Newport and stop at historic Rose Island (or kayak there!). There's a fee to get on the island, but it's so worth it. Take a tour of the lighthouse, enjoy the three beaches, and hike the perimeter (as long as it's not seagull nesting season, which will be clearly marked). Great place to enjoy beautiful Rhode Island.

Beautifully restored lighthouse in the East Passage in Newport. Visit via passenger ferry or on one of Save the Bay's lighthouse or seal tours! You can walk the island and tour the inside of the light or stay overnight as an honorary keeper

A beautiful spot on a quiet peaceful island

Well kept and neat. Our guide wasn't immediately available but made up for it with her depth of knowledge. We were able to walk the island and that was the icing!

The restoration effort has been tremendous and beautifully successful! We stayed overnight and loved the 1800s experience! Don't expect fancy or luxurious.
