Showfish Newport

I had made a reservation for 2 people for 5pm at the outdoor fire pit tables. I arrived around 4:30 and was told they were seating other people at the two available tables at that point and that we could wait over across and have a drink. I informed the hostess that I was not comfortable with that due to the fact that it was indoors and many individuals were inside eating and drinking without masks on. We then asked if we could purchase a drink and go outside on the patio to wait. The hostess told us no due to liability patrons could not wait outside on patio to be seated. Instead we ended up waiting until 5:30 outside in the Valet area which wasn't comfortable to say the least. We were about to leave to go to another restaurant when I decided to double check the seating situation. We were seated at one if the outdoor fire pit tables. While the fire pit was nice and cozy I was turned off by the seat cushions which were literally covered with dog hair. I'm severely allergic to animals so this was not ideal for me plus totally not hygienic around food. In addition, I watched as multiple patrons were allowed outside on the patio to drink and wait for a table when we were denied this request previously. I'm disappointed at the lack of consistency by the hostess. I will say the wait staff was working very hard, the food was delicious and the view was amazing.

Really, really, really good calamari, a must try. I enjoyed the burger too along with the Brussels sprouts. Stay away from the Mac n Cheese (not enough cheese). The service was great also.

We went there yesterday for a late breakfast with our 2 sons. We had a great time, great service and good food.nWe came back this morning for a late breakfast as well. It was another service team and they refused to sit us for breakfast. With 2 hungry children, that was not a good experience at all. If the kitchen is not closed and waiters are here, just greet customers, that’s the heart of the industry...

I read a review and almost didn’t give this place a chance, I’m glad I decided to go anyways. This place is a hidden gem in Newport. Very tasty food, typical prices. We will be visiting this restaurant again.

Outstanding dinner!nThe calamari was the best I’ve ever had. Awesome burger. Octopus was perfectly grilled.nnI appreciate all of their Covid precautions - they were very respectful of our table seating requests.
