Dirt road to get to a dirt parking lot. The trail is 90% flat dirt/gravel path with a few tricky obstacles . The path is not marked but fairly obvious. The trail parallels the creek the entire time with many opportunities to access the water. Lots of trees and changing scenery. No restroom facilities. Lots of friendly dogs on the day I visited and there were even some horseback riders.
Cool uphill trail with some creekside fun rocky challenges one would expect from a highly rated trail. Nothing crazy, enough for hikers to enjoy and not too much for runners to keep a good pace.
Magnificent hike! 2 miles of walking along the creek, every turn brought a new awe moment. Dalton lake, maybe not worth the effort, but enjoy the journey!
