Normanskill Preserve East

Decent enough quick walk in a wooded area

A quick and easy hike to get a nice view of the preserve. The parking lot and trailhead share a parking lot with an engineering and architecture office. When you go down the trail, you'll eventually hit a fork in the road to go left or right, if you go left it is a loop. It was nice, but there was not a lot of access to the water.

The Autumn flowers were beautiful, the trail was easy to hike and the stream was nice. This place was named after an ancestor of mine. He had a saw mill on the stream. I enjoyed walking where he may have walked many, many years ago.

The Normanskill is a gem in the Capital region. I like to hike the trails all times of year. They are fairly short and manageable, good for small children and non-hikers alike.

Almost went for a slip on the ice into Norman's kill a time or two, but had a great time! Nice long trail with easy slopes, only a few steep, slippery inclines. 5 deer walked nearly close enough to touch before ambling off.
