The food at El Jefe’s in Lead, SD is incredible! My husband and I visited Lead for 3 days and ate here 2! It would have been 3 for 3 but they are closed on Sunday! EVERYTHING we ate had so much wonderful flavor! Portions were large and reasonably price. Being from the East Coast, I will never eat this good of fresh-Mex again. Bravo! Bravo!

Mi amigos. I am 5th generation Oaxacan-American chef. Since arriving in your country I have searched high and low for an authentic taste of home. But from San Diego to LA, Sante Fe to Denver, and San Francisco and to Seattle, all I ever found was canned refried beans and kraft mexican cheese mixed together with mission tortillas and cholula. UNTIL NOW.nnUpon entering this Sonoran Sanctuary, I was greeted with familiar Aromas. Onions such as my Auntie Juanita made them, seasoned meats which danced the Salsa in my nostrils, and steam from boiling Tomatillos which call back to the legendary salsa saunas of Sayulita.nnAs I received my Antojitos, I took my first bite and my mouth exploded like a Pinata. Immediately I ordered a dozen more and ran them over to the Lead SD Post Office to overnight them to my family back in Puerto Escondido.nnGracias Amigos!! Pura Vida!!! ud83dudc83ud83dudc83ud83dudc83

Food and service very good, only knock is the setting. Had the nachos and two tacos, generous portions

I don't live in South Dakota but when I come here for work I always stop. I've tried half of their menu and its always been really good. The owner is a super nice guy and always smiling. Support your local small businesses! Give this place a try.

What a pleasant surprise: excellent Mexican food in a strip mall in Lead, SD! I had enchiladas and my partner had tacos ... everything was just right!
