Amazing trail, easy to follow. We went rogue and found a way down into the valley to the east. I was to chicken to follow any of the canyons off the valley. People do get lost out here. Have fun and stay safe!
Climb the steeps. Maneuver your way through the crevices. Find your way around and through a magnificent God-created maze. The boardwalk takes you safely to overlook the unique beauty called the Badlands. But few can resist stepping off the walk and climbing, discovering and being wowed like a kid again! Hands on, don't just look, here you can experience it.
Located near the Northeast entrance to the Badlands. Park in the large parking lot and take the accessible boardwalk 1/4 mile for great views of the Badlands. From there you go off roading for at round trip hike of 8/10 mile through the yellow pole marked trail for a view through the “door” into the badlands.nnThere is absolutely no shade so I suggest a sun hat with strap, sunglasses and sunscreen. Even though it’s considered a short hike we were there in August and it was 97 degrees so bring water.nnSome wore mask, some don’t. Social distancing was being practiced. Just enjoy yourself and do you. I would definitely recommend this trail.
Very cool, easy to access trail. You can make this a quick 10 minute walk or hike out further into the Badlands. Definitely make this one of your stops!
Top 3 places for me to visit in the Badlands. This area starts with a boardwalk (where too many people stayed) but you can walk down to the formation and follow yellow poles to a great overlook.nnThis is the best climbing space for smaller kids. It’s a lot of stepping up as down and you can explore lots of small areas.
