The road leading to the trailhead is closed not well plowed. Easy walk to the trailhead. You can park across the street from the gate. It is 1.6 miles to the actual Gale River Trailhead but well worth it.
Beautiful hike. The first 4 miles in are a relatively easy incline, but quickly gets difficult the last mile to the ridgeline. Great starter hike in my opinion, has a little bit of everything a good hike should have. The trail follows a stream as well, so plenty of good pictures taken. Galehead peak is simply a cairn with no view- very underwhelming. The Hut provides great views of the valley below.
Great hike not too hard made summit in less then two hours. First three miles were easier. Not many views.
This is a beautiful trail off the beaten path. Not too difficult at all! There’s a small parking lot but you can also park on the side of the street.
Nice dirt road and nice parking lot. Would recommend parking here.
