A good trailhead accessing outstanding hiking opportunities on trails maintained by the Randolph Outing Club for the White Mountain National Forest. Only a kiosk with trail info. No toilet or trash. Room for 39 cars. Gets overwhelmed on weekends and nice summer days so plan accordingly.

Amazing. I took a few different trails as part of the terrifying 25. Super terrifying. Need full gear. Aggressive crampons, microspikes, heavy gloves, goggles, hiking poles and an ice axe, snowshoes are optional but useful.nHad no views, snow all day, really windy at the top. Started at Appalachia then took the air line. Beautiful trails. Especially the Chemin des Dames, I descended it then ascended it right after and continued on to gulf side then to great gully down to king ravine back to short line then to airline again and to the parking lot. Amazing hike. Started at 5:15 am and ended around 2:20pm.nOn 4-5-2021

One of my favorite places to hike in the white mountains. Make sure to be well prepared for hiking here as the terrain can be quite treacherous if you choose the wrong trail. So always have a map available to know where you are going when hiking the presidentials and check trail conditions before heading out. My favorite route from this trailhead to the Summit of Mt Adams is the short line up the King Ravine trail (passing through the subway and ice caves of course) then heading up to bag Adam’s and back down the Air Line Trail to Chemin Des Dames
