This trail is a little over 4 miles one way. A great hike, pretty scenery, several opportunities to see the valley below, but don't expect to make the top of Mt. Chocorua if you bring your dog or young children on this trail. Its about 3 1/2 miles to the overnight camping cabin, which is a fun little stop about 1/2 a mile from the top of chocorua and isn't bad if you want to do the overnight thing, just remember to pack out your trash and food. Once you get past the cabin, it's all rock faces, some very slippery, so be properly prepared, its not a simple walk. Make sure your shoes have good traction, especially in the event of wet conditions as there are many places where your traversing moss, boulders, etc. We brought our dog, who is good at climbing and has gone on many mountain trails with us. I would not recommend taking a dog past the cabin as once you get to the rocky, steep, face, it's slippery, steep, and just not safe for them or young kids. Any kids as a matter of fact should be experienced and kept a very close eye on. One other point of note, this trail does not seem to be near as traveled as some of the others on Mt. Chocorua, we only saw 2 groups all day, so while it's not crowded, you will most likely be on your own, so plan accordingly and get your NH hike safe, fishing,or hunting license just in case.
